GET TO KNOW - completed May 2025
3 words to describe you:
unapologetic, vibrant, funny

Describe your sound:
singer songwriter, indie, pop, rock

Describe the moment you knew that you wanted to pursue music:
In late may, all my friends asked my why I didn't audition for Berklee College of Music. I responded with "you know what? I have no idea" So I auditioned and got in and have been writing and recording ever since.

How does your heritage impact your art?
I was adopted so that's a difficult question but my music has a strong sense of yearning for belonging. Growing up in predominantly white areas, all I wanted was to fit in. Music has been my outlet to do the opposite of that. To try and stand out.

What moment are you most proud of in your music journey so far?
Putting out my first EP "Whiplash" last year near my birthday. That birthday in particular was special because it was my 20th, and I had gotten with an ex boyfriend on my birthday the previous year. It was nice to have the EP to look forward to and remind me of how far I've come.

Your next music goal:
Open for a tour!

If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
Tommy Lefroy. I've always admired Winter and Tessa and their ability to write about the struggles of girlhood.

Lyrics you live by:
"all of a sudden you're a hostage to things you thought you wanted"
(Tommy Lefroy - Trashfire)

3 songs you're listening to right now:
I Can Change Him - Jensen McRae
Cherry Trees - Ashe
Last Night's Mascara - Griff

Your community shout out:
Griff! I'm so inspired by Griff and her sound. I've seen her live and she is absolutely electric on stage. Her lyricism is also so profound and unmatched. In addition, her production skills truly makes her a fabulous artist.

Anything else you'd like to share:
I just released a new song! Here's the backstory to "Anthem of a Dying Girl"- This song is about all the things I wouldn't have if I died when I got cancer my freshman year of college. Bladder cancer affects predominantly 82 year old obese white males who have smoked and drank their entire life. I do not exactly identify with this demographic. Because this disease is so uncommon among those in my age group, I learned that it was responsible for my rapid weight loss, lack of appetite, depression and hormonal fluctuation. At the start of my second year of college, I went through the hardest parts of my treatment and I am doing well now. This song is about all the things I thought I would never be blessed enough to experience. There was a time when I doubted my ability to live a “normal” life after treatment, so I wrote this song about my struggles. Although I still don’t know if my future lies behind a white picket fence, I am so grateful to have one.
