A cross-cultural collaboration rooted in Indian classical storytelling
Every once in a while, a song lets you dance your way through emotions you never really escape. On Rangeen Saza, London-based producers VIZANO and Works Of Intent, alongside vocalist Shreya Manoj, transform the emotional depth of a traditional Hindustani thumri into a euphoric big-room club record.
Out now via Indo Warehouse, the collaboration fuses mainstage-ready electronic production with the expressive traditions of Hindustani classical music. Anchored by soaring shehnai melodies, driving percussion and vocals rooted in a traditional thumri, the record explores a simple but powerful idea: that love, even when painful, is a privilege worth experiencing.
“There was immense pain and longing in the song, palpable enough for an 11-year-old to

The collaboration took shape organically through the Indo Warehouse community. VIZANO and Works Of Intent first met at the Amsterdam Dance Event in 2024 through the UK collective DAYTIMERS, before reconnecting in London a year later to revisit an unfinished demo built around a shehnai-led drop. When Shreya Manoj heard an early session, she was immediately reminded of Choom Chananaana, a thumri in Raag Jaunpuri that she had learnt as a child.
Drawing from that childhood memory, she wrote Rangeen Saza around a verse from the thumri, keeping its characteristic tension and release at the forefront. Together, the trio shaped the song into the story of a forlorn lover moving from heartbreak to acceptance.
While VIZANO's original idea fused Afro-inspired rhythms with Indian instrumentation, the trio reshaped the record into a streamlined club anthem designed for large dancefloors. The shehnai remains its defining hook, while Shreya's vocals balance classical nuance with contemporary electronic production, allowing tradition and club culture to coexist rather than compete.
relationship with one of the leading labels championing South Asian-inspired electronic music. The release is accompanied by a narrative-led visual world that expands on the song's themes of love, marriage and societal expectations, reflecting its central tension between longing and acceptance.
