Singaporean-Australian artist Yulan Jack is a creative force to be reckoned with. While best known as a professional actress with leading roles in Deadloch, she is also a writer and musician who has recently begun working on mainstay music project Yulan & Blaise. She shared with Jocelle about the parallels of acting and creating music, and how both mediums (and all the others she works in) scratch different creative itches as part of her practice.

About Yulan Jack: Yulan Jack 杰克玉兰 is an award-winning Singaporean-Chinese/Australian interdisciplinary performing artist and writer, formerly known as Stephanie Jack. She is one half of the "fiercely original"  experimental pop duo, Yulan & Blaise. In 2022, she was named by Asialink (University of Melbourne) as one of 40-Under-40 Most Influential Asian Australians. Yulan ("yü-lahn" meaning "jade magnolia") is an homage to her late grandmother Mulan ("wood magnolia") and her mother Mei Yu ("beautiful jade"). The yulan flower is an ancient white magnolia native to China, and the official city flower of Shanghai where Yulan studied Mandarin in 2019.
