The Great Escape is the festival for new music, showcasing 450 emerging artists from all over the world in 30+ walkable venues across the city and a pop-up festival site on Brighton Beach. It’s the first place to discover your new favourite artist and see them in an intimate setting before they go on to headline major festival stages.

8bite

A rising singer-songwriter in the Chinese music scene, known for his gentle vocals and introspective songwriting. As a Gen Z artist, his music blends contemporary styles with a deeply personal touch.


Bed

Known for their genre-blending “rave rock” sound that fuses punk, electronic, and techno elements. They are based in Tokyo and have gained significant attention for their high-energy live performances, international tours, and DIY ethos. The term could also potentially refer to another Japanese band named BED, formed in 2005, which is an indie/alternative rock band from Kyoto and Osaka.


BombayMami

Born in Switzerland, resides in London and raised in between Switzerland, UK and India; Her distinctive music blends both of her cultural backgrounds, making for a unique sound seamlessly blending Indian classical music with RnB and pop, she creates a bold sonic and visual universe.


Chanpan

Chinatown, NYC where Grace Dumdaw (they/them) and twin brothers Lance and Matthew Tran (both he/him) started busking to fund the recording of their first EP. The three quickly grabbed the attention of the fashion and music world alike and joined Haru Nemuri on tour in 2024. The band’s growth continued through 2025 with the release of their debut EP “endlessly,” sold-out headline shows in NYC and LA, several viral moments, K-Pop co-signs, and another tour with Post Animal. 2026 brings the release of new music and their first festival dates plus international shows.


Charlie Jeer

A fast-rising artist from Kent redefining the UK music scene. Emerging in 2023, he gained traction with “Her Eyes,” blending hypnotic sax with jazz textures and deep house. Classically trained, he achieved Grade 8 sax early before embracing a more emotive style through mentorship. His journey spans an economics degree, a 350k TikTok following, and diverse roles from boxing to modelling. Supported by major platforms and tastemakers, Jeer recently sold out his debut headline show and released a track with Mahalia. His EP Everything Is Temporary. cements his status as one to watch.


Chinese American Bear

A quirky, bilingual mandopop duo from Seattle creating playful and eclectic English/Chinese “ear candy.” Their sound, somewhere between Melody’s Echo Chamber, The B-52’s, The Flaming Lips, and a hypercolor cartoon, has earned tens of millions of streams and global acclaim. They’ve been featured in VOGUE+, Paste Magazine, Under the Radar, celebrated by BBC Radio and KEXP (#1 album), and spotlighted across major Spotify playlists including Fresh Finds (#1 cover track), Bedroom Pop, Chill Vibes, and Chinese Indie Picks.


EMNW

Two-MC mixture-rock duo, Emma and Menu driving the revival of Japan’s Y2K-era mixture movement. They carry the spirit of the early-2000s scene into the modern era, rebuilding it for a new generation where cute and heavy collide. Fusing Punk, Ska, Hip-Hop, and Nu-metal with relentless energy, EMNW delivers a sound that is playful, brutal, and unapologetically contemporary. Their explosive live performances have driven rapid momentum, firmly positioning them at the forefront of Japan’s new heavy music wave.


Frozemode

A London-based alternative rap trio who pride themselves on their hard-hitting bars, playful and inventive melodies and musical versatility. Down to earth and as raw as possible, writing about their personal experiences and struggles, with each track putting everything on the table and laying it bare. Made up of I.V.GATLIN, Lisong and Cho-Hollo, the trio naturally bring a different look, personality and sound to the table.


GILSKA

A London-born, Sri Lankan-rooted independent artist carving out a bold space in dark alternative pop. Blending raw electronics, glitch-pop textures, and cinematic intensity, her music is sensual, confrontational, and unapologetically intimate.


Heartworms

When it came time for Jojo Orme, aka Heartworms, to name her hugely anticipated debut album, few phrases could as easily capture the discomforting feelings at the heart of her songs. Across Glutton For Punishment’s nine sharply realised agit-pop tracks, Orme sings about broken families and broken relationships with bracing frankness – every song shot through with the unnerving feeling that maybe she enjoys the chaos. “We’re all so drawn to punishing ourselves, and I’m always drawn to singing about it, and thinking about it,” she says.


HYPHEN

A riot in human form. Blending snarling punk, razor-sharp riffs and raw Indian influence, his live shows are loud, sweaty and impossible to ignore. This is protest music with teeth — fast, fearless and built for the pit. Hyphen doesn’t just play songs, he detonates them, turning every set into a full-body release of noise, chaos and connection. If you want polished and predictable, look elsewhere. 


Lady of Mars

The band had a break-through year in 25, storming stages across the UK and sharing line-ups with acts including The K’s, The Molotovs, Girlband! and Sick Joy. Built on the haunting vocals of songwriter Neve Bowen and soaring lead guitar playing of Thea Mercado, the band has drawn comparisons to the late ‘70s new wave energy of Patti Smith or The Pretenders. In just six months, they’ve gone from basement rehearsal rooms to national touring, releasing three excellent DIY singles getting, over 100k streams and have joined the Raw Power Management roster.


luvis

A singer-songwriter, track maker, and guitarist from Uji, Kyoto, now based in Tokyo. He channels emotions that exist before language—feelings passed down through generations—into music that resonates across time. Influenced by jazz, soul, alternative rock, folk, and the natural world, he creates an organic sound shaped by his distinctive voice. His name comes from “luv is,” reflecting his lifelong exploration of love’s meaning.


Min Taka

The artist shares her inner world through genre-bending sound that moves between indie, liquid dnb, synth, hyperpop. Her songs reflect on themes of identity, belonging, femininity, and connection. Min Taka’s sonic universe ranges from intimate and soft to intense electronic commotion. Inspired by the likes of Mitski, Sassy 009, Cocteau Twins, Kero Kero Bonito, and Charli XCX, the pixie-pop artist’s latest EP “I Think We Should Just Move In Together” was released in July 2025. It reached over a 1 million streams in a week and got nominated for an Edison Award.


Matthew Ifield

The artist crafts indie-pop that feels tender, honest, and quietly uplifting. With warm vocals and emotionally resonant storytelling, he first captured global attention through self-produced releases and viral covers that showcased his intimate style. Blending gentle acoustic textures with modern pop sensibilities, his music explores youth, vulnerability, and quiet optimism, building a devoted international following along the way.


Ninush

The childhood nickname of Nina Lim, a London-based violinist. After six years studying classical violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she became close with members of Black Country, New Road and a recognisable live presence within the band. Her new solo project explores something more personal, with the support of her many musical friends.


Persia Holder

With her blend of emotional pop and soulful storytelling, Persia Holder is part of a new wave of British artists redefining vulnerability. Her debut EP I Didn’t Think You’d Hear This introduced a voice both powerful and deeply human — one that turns late-night thoughts into anthems. Persia writes songs that hold space for heartbreak, self-growth and the quiet moments in between.


Shii

An electronic producer and singer-songwriter from Chengdu, who first gained recognition in Wuhan. Bringing a unique perspective and human warmth to electronic textures, she blends IDM, glitch, and pop into fluid, expressive melodies. Her sophisticated live shows often integrate contemporary dance, creating a visceral tension between sonic precision and vulnerability. Following her remix of Romy (The xx)’s ‘Lifetime’, Shii’s 2025 album Tears of Acquaintance reveals a darker, more textured inner world—marking her as one of China’s most insightful independent voices, defining the intersection of analog sound and raw, intimate songwriting.


Sophia Thakur

Sophia bridges poetry and the modern world, infusing raw emotion and rich narrative into collaborations with prestigious brands such as Tiffany and Co, Calvin Klein, Vogue xLevi’s x GQ, MINI Cooper, and Nike. As a leading commercial storyteller, she combines grace, ethics, and creativity to shape brand narratives with unparalleled authenticity.


TAIGA

An electronic music duo from Inner Mongolia and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Originally, it was a folk band comprised of four members. In 2014, the two multi-instrumentalists Xi Leilei and Husile met each other and in 2017 they took up the project.Their compositions fuse the traditional ethnic sounds and its contemporary approach to create their own nomadic psychedelic music. Rooted in the Mongolian traditions and musical heritage, they combine Khoomei throat singing technique, instruments such as the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle), the Tuvan doshpuluur lute, bass drums and guitars, all with influences from dub, broken beats, progressive, ambient, trance and electronic dance music. Each composition conveys a message and is a gateway to their authentic world and vision of life.


TAMIW

They base their sound on electronic tracks featuring bass music and hip-hop elements, with an extensive use of sampling and analog synths, creating alternative music with a refined sense of balance.


Tukki

A London-born artist from Tottenham, creates a soulful blend of R&B and afro sounds where raw truth meets rhythm. Rooted in her Indonesian, Senegalese, and French heritage, her music explores self-discovery, healing, love, and joy, encouraging listeners to embrace life’s highs and lows while swaying through it all. With her warm voice, Tukki’s sound feels both intimate and uplifting. She has already caught industry attention, earning features on BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Introducing.


Wah Wah Wah

A psychedelic rock band. Their music combines the raw energy and tone of garage rock with the intricate and refined elements of progressive rock and carries intuitive and youthful energy that makes it uniquely powerful. Psychedelic visual elements combined with their music create an immersive experience that is rarely seen in live music scene.


Wu Tiao Ren

A band formed by Renke and Maotao. With eleven albums under its belt, the band is widely regarded as one of the key representatives of China’s independent music scene.Their music blends folk and rock with strong regional characteristics. They often sing in the Haifeng dialect, and their lyrics focus on small-town life, ordinary people, and social change. Their expression is direct, grounded, and often carries a touch of humor and realism. The band blurs the boundary between art and life, tearing through the barriers of language, region, class and generation, cementing its phenomenal status in China.
