Venue: Sebright Arms (London, UK) | Date: 27th August 2025

Night 2 of Ecca's back to back sold out London dates made for the warmest show I've been to this year. Her top may as well have read 'HOT AND $WEATY'. Following touring with Limp Bizkit and playing the likes of Reading & Leeds festival earlier this year, it seems a bit questionable as to why she's only playing a 150 capacity pub basement to some. These are shows that were originally booked in for April that got rescheduled and we're beyond grateful she decided to stick the little basement room of Sebright Arms for them - because boy, did her energy more than fill it.

Following an energetic pop-rock set from London's own Master Peace and groovy beats from Zar, Ecca and band burst onto the stage. The Tamil artist, born in South Africa and now living in Australia, runs straight to front where she is face to face with her audience. She's very quick to thank everyone for showing up, with a special shout out to her fellow 'brown ladies'. The crowd is wonderfully diverse, ready to be consumed by the explosive set to come. We're merely a few songs in when Ecca has already decided that night 2 of London is already her favourite of the two nights.

For much of her set, Ecca is boundlessly darting and dancing around barely stopping for more than a few seconds at any given time. It's the type of chaotic movement many artists would be breathless after every few songs, this multi-genre artist completely in control with a smile across her face throughout. The stage presence is undeniable and her vibrancy infectious as the temperature in the room continues to slowly creep up as the beautiful synergy with audience grows. It is absolutely no surprise as to why alongside Limp Bizkit the likes of, Queens of The Stone Ages, Prodigy, Idles and more have had her tempering the crowds for them.

The setlist shining a light on Ecca's musical dexterity as her and her band flawlessly shift gears between her brand of punk and rap laced with rock, hip hop and her jazz background among others. Ecca Vandal is very much the epitome and prime example of the growing notion that artists sticking to one genre is a thing of the past. However, from her first release 10 years it's been clear that the artist has very much forged her own musical path since the start. 'CRUSING TO SELF SOOTHE', marks the closing of a triumphant set. A huge track that encapsulates all that Ecca Vandal is and where she is surely destined to be.

Followed by the hyped up crowd chanting 'we want more's and the artist's name on repeat, Ecca signs off the set with a mini encore of 'SORRY! CRASH!'. As the basement room slowly empties out, the artist spends time with those who want to speak to her by the merch stand. As I head out to the tube, I'm feeling incredibly light and blessed to have been in that room. To witness the confidence and power Ecca exuded was truly special and a reminder that we are indeed unlimited if we choose to be. I have a heavy suspicion that the next time she's in the UK, Ecca will be lighting up much bigger rooms.

Ecca Vandal continues her UK tour with a stop in Manchester and Glasgow, before heading over to the States for 2 headline shows there and a November date as part of one her musical influences, Deftones' festival. One thing is for sure, even though Ecca Vandal is 10 years into her journey - it is very much still the start of what is to come. Her dynamic genre-bending creativity and effervescent showmanship is a sure recipe for success.
