3 words to describe you:
Describe your sound:
Honestly, I’m still exploring my sound. Right now it’s a mix of R&B, Pop, and Hip-hop vibes. I just like making music that speaks to how I feel.
Describe the moment you knew that you wanted to pursue music:
I started exploring music in 2017 at a Gaming cafe, where I accidentaly discovered FL Studio through YouTube. I often learned and experimented together with my friend Coachan, who also happened to be the cafe’s operator. In 2021, after going through heartbreak, I began channeling my emotions into songs, all produced with very minimal resources. What started as a way to vent my frustration unexpectedly turned into my first public releases. To my surprise, people actually listened, and their response encouraged me to keep going. Since then, I’ve realized that music is truly my path.
How does your heritage impact your art?
Being Sundanese and growing up close to the Prabu Geusan Ulun Museum in Sumedang kind of made me appreciate my culture more. Sometimes, I like to sneak in cultural references into my music when I can. Like when I made an alter ego called Jalal Bandro$, named after bandros, one of my favorite traditional snacks. And I even named my home studio Atmadja, after a local prince from Sumedang. Just small ways to keep my roots in my art.
What moment are you most proud of in your music journey so far?
A moment I’ll never forget was my first live performance. I was so shocked to see people actually singing my lyrics word for word. It made me realize how deeply music can connect us.
Your next music goal:
My next goal is to create a collaborative album with my friends. No big plan, just want to have fun and see what kind of chaos we can turn into music.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who and why?
Morgan Freeman might not be a musician, but his voice is so iconic it would make any song sound epic. Collaborating with him would be legendary.
Lyrics you live by/favourite lyrics:
"Frog on the floor"
(100 gecs - Frog on the floor)
3 songs you're listening to right now:
Orang Ketiga - Suisei
You Know - Bixby
Runaway - Masayuki Suzuki
Your community shout out:
I want to give a big shout-out to Underdog Track (@underdogtrack_), a local music collective from Sumedang that helped me tremendously in my early music journey. They taught me how to record and mix properly, lent me essential equipment like microphones and soundcards, and paved the way for my first live shows.
I also want to recognize Saint House (@sainth0use), an online music community full of passionate music lovers and creators with the motto “hope music could save your life.” It’s where I met many friends and collaborators, discovered new genres and sounds that expanded my musical horizons, and funny enough, it’s also where I met someone who you could say is like my manager now, haha.
Both communities have played a vital role in shaping my path, and I’m truly grateful for their support.
Anything else you'd like to share:
I’m excited to share my latest single, Bittersweet, released on June 20th. This soft pop track, featuring SlushSoPretty and produced by whoselixr, serves as the closing song on the Saintimental Part 3 album. It explores themes of regret and missed chances, inspired by the feeling of wishing you had told someone how you really felt sooner.
What makes this release unique is that it’s also available on an unconventional platform, which is XH*mster as a statement on freedom of expression and reaching listeners beyond traditional music spaces.
