The first of its kind, The South Asian Soundcheck has been launched by Non-profit initiative Lila Music. The survey aims to capture experiences from South Asian music professionals, helping the UK music industry better understand, support, and champion South Asian talent as it takes centre stage.

South Asian music and its people are thriving. But without data, a powerful part of the UK music industry's evolution goes unheard and the full commercial and creative potential of South Asian music remains untapped.

This ten-minute, first-of-its-kind survey transforms individual stories, patterns, and challenges into measurable data - enabling decision-makers, businesses, and communities across UK music to drive meaningful growth and unlock new market opportunities.

South Asian music creators, managers, executives, and behind-the-scenes professionals are all encouraged to contribute their experiences and help shape the future of South Asian music in the UK.

Key areas of the survey include:
  • Who is working in the industry, and in what roles
  • What and how South Asian professionals are earning
  • Representation and visibility across the sector
  • How cultural identity shapes music careers
  • Access to funding, support and what’s needed next

Participants will also be entered into a prize draw, where they will have the chance to win a pair of AKG K271 headphones or studio time at Darkwood Studios.
