A shimmering, emotionally-charged ode to that fleeting moment after the club when the night still holds possibility
On the 12th of May we entered into the flower full moon in Scorpio, a unique time to harness emotional alchemy which is why London multi-hyphenate Jess Young chose to share her new single titled “Lost In You”.
Born from a situation where deep romantic feelings were developing for someone, “Lost In You” is a representation of the uncertainty of whether someone feels the same way. Jess puts the yearning and ambivalence she felt into the song with her vivid songwriting and ethereal tones, bringing a clear visualisation she had at the time to life.
“What came to my mind was me in a vast space of nature, blue skies, dry hot wind, the sun shining as I am standing on top of a cliff along a rocky shore. The perfect reference is the Ayers Rock, Uluru in Australia.” Picturing herself on top of a cliff she details the hesitation to bring what was deep beneath the surface to light, the push and pull between fear and intuition, logic and gut, “I was asking myself If I want to stay at the top of this cliff, have hope and optimism, or come back to the ground, back to reality and back to Earth."
Choosing to intentionally release “Lost In You” today is symbolic of this song and the journey it has been on. Studying astrology, Jess has recently become fascinated at how life is synchronised with the cosmos. In this case, 5 years on from initially writing this song, she finds herself coming out of a very similar situation to which the song is about.

“It is like my past self was looking out for my future self. To be in a place where I can completely relate to what I’m releasing with more depth and new perspective, having been through the same situation, is quite magical. This isn’t just a musical release for me, but it is a literal release and letting go, on a visceral level and relating to my personal spiritual journey.” - Jess Young
Using her education in astrology, Jess shares “Lost In You” during the flower full moon in Scorpio with the Sun in Taurus - the timing perfectly synchronised as full moons are about completion, endings, letting go, and releasing. Scorpio, a water sign, suggests that it will be a deeply transformative time for unearthing what is beneath the surface, relating to the whispered lyrics, ‘can you drown a little deeper for me’. Scorpio energy is intense, passionate, yearns to go into the depths and connect with life and people emotionally - it is obsessive, transformative and about cycles of birth and death. Taurus energy is about stability, reliability, wanting to have physical security and connection to the material world - what is real and tangible and you see Jess trying to make sense of it all, most prominently in the verses. Both signs are associated with sensuality, the main thread throughout the song but with contrasting energies of Scorpio, representing the need to jump into risk and Taurus, representing the need to feel grounded.
